DiAthlete’s Camp connects and supports young adults to advance knowledge across key areas of independence and understanding with diabetes, focusing on social life, nutrition and exercise. The camp is further designed to build advocacy and leadership skills to get involved with future DiAthlete workshops and events run by local NHS diabetes teams.

In 2019, we hosted our first ever Diabetes Camp at Gilwell Park Scouts Adventures, with 23 young advocates attending. The training was assisted by supportive members of LOD’s global network to lead the sessions and assist in the activities – with also the valued experiences of Peter Davies attending, who has lived over 62 years with type 1.

In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we held our camp virtually with 24 young adult advocates attending over 3 days.
